What is Gonorrhoea?
Gonorrhoea is a bacterial infection caused by the organism neisseria gonorrhoea. Like Chlamydia it can be present in both men and women and may present symptoms of discharge, pelvic pain, pain on urination, and fever amongst others.
If gonorrhoea is left untreated it can lead to reproductive problems in women leading to sterilization and men suffer swelling of the testicles and penis. Both sexes can also suffer from skin problems and arthritis. Our clinic can offer a consultation with our doctor if you have ever had unprotected sexual intercourse.
We recommend this before starting a new relationship or keen to get a full health screen prior to starting a family. During the consultation the doctor will go through your medical history and your risk profile and suggest the most appropriate sexual health screen for you.
If there is a strong risk of STI, our doctor may start you on a course of antbiotics before the results return. Once the results return our doctor will explain the results, and recommend further steps if necessary. All this will be done in complete confidentiality with the full support of our doctor.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, opening times may vary and our offices may be closed, please call to confirm.
